Loss Damage Waiver

  • What is it?
  • The optional Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) offered by car rental companies is not insurance. It's an option that reduces renters of financial responsibility if the car is damaged or stolen while under rental contract. Using the vehicle in violation of any of the use restrictions listed on the rental agreement could void LDW and leave the renter fully responsible for any damage to the vehicle.
  • What if I decline LDW?
  • At Budget Thailand if you decline LDW you may be responsible for up to the full cost of the car if it is damaged, vandalized or stolen during the rental.
  • Who needs it?
  • Most of Budget Thailand rates are subject to 7% VAT and insurance Maximum deductible of Baht 10,000 excess for car categories CPMR, MCAR, ECAR a Baht 15,000 excess for car categories CCAR, CVAR, ICAR, FFAR, MVMR 20,000 are applied in any case of damages or losses, if recovery cannot be made from a third party. All renters arenormally recommended to have LDW (Baht200/day/car)
  • Won't my credit card cover it?
  • Some credit card companies offer protection if you present their card at the time of rental and use the same card to pay for your rental at the time of return. Renters should examine closely the terms of this coverage with your credit card provider as the protection is often supplemental and certain limitations or restrictions may apply.

Age Restrictions/Additional Drivers

  • Age Restrictions/Additional Drivers
  • In Thailand, drivers 21 and over are eligible to rent from Budget.
  • Is there an additional charge if there will be more than one driver?
  • Currently in Thailand there is no additional charge for more than one driver. We just require that you notify us of the additional driver.

Returning The Car

  • What refueling options do I have?
  • Three:
Option One : Bring the car back full and avoid any refueling service charge.
Option Two : Pay us only for the gas you use, based on the renting location's per- liter refueling service charge. Budget customer service representatives can tell you what the renting location's refueling service charge is when you pick up the car.
Option Three : Buy a full tank at prevailing pump prices at the start of the rental and return the vehicle empty.
  • Why do I have to return my car at a set time?
  • Many rates, like weekend specials, are only available during certain time periods. Returning the car after the designated time might affect the rate quoted. Returning the car by the agreed-upon time also helps ensure that all other customers will have their reserved car available upon their arrival.
  • If I pick up a car on Tuesday at noon and return it Wednesday at 4 p.m., will I be charged for one day or two?
  • Most car rental rates are based on a 24-hour clock. So in this case, you'd be charged for three extra hours or one additional day, whichever is less. In addition, the charges for optional waivers, optional insurance and surcharge are applied on a 24-hour basis.
  • If I want to pick up a car at one location and drop it off at another, does it cost more?
  • Budget Thailand allows one-way rentals between all locations in Thailand at no additional charge (Baht 3,000 plus vat 7%)if the rental is for a minimum of seven days.

Payment and Pricing

  • Why do rental car companies ask for a credit card?
  • Rental companies need to know that their renters are credit-worthy, to minimize vehicle damage and losses. Credit cards and valid drivers' licenses usually provide the only information we have about our renters.
  • Can I use a credit card up front and then pay for the rental with cash when I return the car?
  • Although you present a major credit card at the time of rental, when you return the vehicle, you will be asked if you'd like to keep the rental charges on that credit card or pay cash.
  • What credit card can I use?
  • American Express, Diners Club, Visa, Mastercard, JCB
  • Can I use a debit card?
  • No, this procedure is not yet effective in Thailand.
  • Why do rates differ?
  • Costs of vehicles, real estate prices, labor costs and special taxes vary from one area to another. Rental rates vary between competitors and may also vary depending on when and where you rent.
  • How can I get the best deal?
  • Car rental pricing is like airline pricing -- if you travel at off-peak times or make a reservation in advance, you often get a better deal. Also, watch the Hot Deals section on the Budget web site. To know more about a current promotions, please call toll free: 1800 BUDGET, 7 days a week.
